Adjust Your Skin Care as You Age. Years of working at our skin clinic these are the tips we recommend treating teens, 30's, 40,s on up to 80, 90's here are some simple ways to adjust your skincare routine.
Teens & 20's: At this stage, your skin care routine should include using a really good cleanser. A gentle cleanser that cleans deeply but does not strip is very important. Salicylic is used often times in too high of concentration & removes the protective barrier of the skin. Deep cleansing followed by a gentle form of Willow Bark Toner (a gentle form of Salicylic Acid) for clearing breakouts & keeping the pores clean. If you are suffering from breakouts adding AHA Glycolic Serum or Glycolic Cream with gently exfoliate the pores & clear breakouts. Exfoliating with a gentle scrub one to two times per week is important for lifting off the dead cells. Adding a light weight antioxidant form of Vitamin C for daily protection from environmental stresses and light moisturizer for night and SPF for day.
A basic skincare routine for your 20s should include the following steps:
1.Cleanse your face twice a day. This will remove dirt, oil, and makeup from your skin, leaving it feeling clean and refreshed. Use a gentle cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type.
2.Moisturize your face. This will help to keep your skin hydrated and prevent it from drying out. Use a moisturizer that is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores.
3.Apply sunscreen every day. This is the most important step in your skincare routine. Sunscreen protects your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays, which can cause premature aging, wrinkles, and skin cancer. Look for a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher that is broad-spectrum, meaning it protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
In addition to these basic steps, you may also want to consider adding the following to your skincare routine:
- Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. This will help to remove dead skin cells and reveal the fresh, new skin underneath. Use an exfoliator that is appropriate for your skin type.
- Use a toner after cleansing. A toner will help to balance your skin's pH and remove any remaining dirt or oil.
- Use a serum to target specific skin concerns. There are serums available for a variety of skin concerns, such as acne, wrinkles, and hyper pigmentation.
- Use a mask once or twice a week. A mask can help to hydrate, brighten, and detoxify your skin.
By following these simple steps, you can help to keep your skin looking its best in your 20s and beyond.
