THE POWER OF VITAMIN C & TOCOPHEROL ACETATE, VITAMIN E

Vitamin E has been around in skincare for a long time, which is why it’s so easily overshadowed by the newer, fancier-sounding ingredients. As it turns out, this workhorse ingredient shouldn’t be overlooked; it’s doing more to help protect your skin than you might realize. As the Founder of Joli Visage Skincare, my first experience with Vitamin E was when I was 16 Years Old. I had become so intrigued by my mother & grandmother's skin and wondered what I could do to nourish my skin early on. My mother and grandmother were absolutely beautiful. My grandmother was part Cherokee and partially grew up on a reservation in Oklahoma and my mom grew up in Long Beach. Although they had English on one side of their genetics having Cherokee Indian on one side and English on the other brought out the fine lines and wrinkles.

I believe the problem was exacerbated by hormonal issues and female problems combined with the damaging sun rays! I was a part-time secretary in high school after school. I invested my money in a very thick, small bottle of Vitamin E Oil from a local old time drug store. I'd tie my long, big thick hair around a sock to keep it from sticking to the thick, sticky Vitamin E Oil. I really believed there was something I could see in my skin that looked soft and healthy! Little did I know that years later I would become an Esthetician, develop a product line and get the exhilarating privilege of collaborating with a chemist and choosing ingredients!

Vitamin E is still one of my favorite ingredients. Our Exceptionelle C Serum is a 20% Ascorbic Acid and L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is applied to the skin it is immediately absorbed, cannot be washed off, and will remain in the skin for up to 72 hours. L-ascorbic Acid works at a cellular level to "reweave" the skin fibers, building and binding the cells together, resulting in smoother, more youthful skin. But we added Tocopherol Acetate, Vitamin E to our Exceptionelle C Serum. There is no question that combining Vitamin E and Vitamin C together is amazing for skin health! It will lessen the appearance of hyperpigmentation, lessen sun damage and act as a buffer and defender against the impact of the environment.

I recently received a call from the production manager of the lab that produces our Vitamin C. She wanted me to know that the formula was a little richer than our previous batch, (small batches of 200). Would I be okay with a richer formula this time or would I like it made again? My response was, by all means, send me the thick stuff! So, for anyone in need of a little more hydration during Winter, I advise you to apply it thickly and see the results!
